Who We Serve

We Serve the San Antonio Community.

  • In the heart of San Antonio, thousands of our neighbors lack access to even the most basic first aid supplies. Items that many of us keep readily available in our medicine cabinets – bandages, antibiotic ointment, or gauze – remain out of reach for families struggling to make ends meet. This is where we step in.

Our Community

  • Happy Soles serves San Antonio’s unhoused community who:
    • Face language barriers accessing medical care
    • Cannot access basic wound care supplies
    • Lack culturally-competent healthcare services
    • Are at risk for wound complications
    • Live in areas with limited bilingual medical resources

The Wound Care Gap

  • Our unhoused community faces critical challenges:
    • Wounds becoming infected due to language barriers
    • Delayed treatment due to cultural/language obstacles
    • Limited access to sterile supplies
    • Lack of bilingual wound care instructions
    • Fear of seeking medical help due to cultural barriers

Our Impact

  • Through bilingual, culturally-sensitive care, we provide:
    • Wound care services
    • Bilingual wound care supplies and instructions
    • Cultural mediation with healthcare providers
    • Emergency wound care kits
    • Partnerships with community organizations
    • Regular outreach to unhoused communities

Join Our Mission

  • Every person deserves access to dignified wound care, regardless of language or housing status. Whether you need assistance or want to support our mission, join us in bridging the healthcare gap for San Antonio’s unhoused community.
  • Contact us for wound care assistance or to support our mission through volunteering and donations.

San Antonio’s unhoused Latino community faces a critical healthcare crisis:

Healthcare Barriers

  • Language barriers prevent access to medical care
  • Limited bilingual wound care services
  • Lack of culturally-sensitive providers
  • Fear and distrust of medical institutions

Medical Impact

  • Untreated wounds lead to infections
  • Preventable conditions become severe
  • Higher rates of complications
  • Delayed care worsens outcomes

Resource Gaps

  • Shortage of bilingual medical supplies/instructions
  • Limited access to sterile wound care materials
  • Few culturally-competent outreach programs

Happy Soles addresses these challenges by providing bilingual wound care services and supplies, delivered with cultural understanding and compassion.
